My First Woodford Folk Festival

After many years of trying, finally made it to Woodfordia, even if only for the day.

Essentially a folk based music festival, it reminded me of a bigger version of the Channon Market with lots of added music tents, musicians and performers!

Over 6 days, thousands of people laughed, danced and sang inspired by thousands of performing artists representing a huge diversity of nationalities and cultures. It rocked...well in a folky, worldy kinda way!

Loved, loved, loved Invisible Friend, Tripod made me laugh, Tinpan Orange mesmerised as per usual, Asanti Dance Theatre amazed, Oka was great for a boogie and Emma Dean was a new discovery!

lots of signage to make you giggle

signs telling people to slow down and go slow featured regularly

even the loos were decorated...lots of our local talent represented at Woodford

more curiosities

and curious people

in the hall of mirrors

these little creations evolved throughout the day at each intersection

all in Native American Indian dancing...Anishinabek 'Northern Lights' Troupe

one of my faves Invisible Friend

the Asanti Dance Theatre...amazing drumming and dancing

the stripped back Jesca Hoop

Xavier Rudd was a huge hit with the crew I was with

he certainly makes a lot of noise for one dude!

his son was on stage for the whole set and didn't stop dancing once...he would give the duracell bunny a run for his money!

Jyllie Jackson did us proud with her lanterneers for the Peace Procession held each night
