There's a Bear up There

Was at our local Southern Cross University recently doing a photo shoot involving a locally designed couture fashion piece and a skeleton.

At the end of the shoot I heard a rustling in the grass behind me and to my surprise, there was a mama koala with a cub on her back quick footing it for the closest tree.

Thankfully I had a longish lens with me and snapped a few family portraits of mother and child!

If you are interested in koalas and their wellbeing and protection, there is a local volunteer organisation called Friends of the Koala in Lismore who are always in need of extra help. They run a hospital for sick koalas as well as an education and research centre.

Was such a beautiful, unexpected treat to see these beautiful Aussie mammals so close. Lucky me!

Natsky, Too Cute. The first and only Koala I saw in the wild was on the way to Nimbin. I could hardly contain my excitement. You got very luck to have found one with a baby. Thanks for the awesome share!
