Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby and Sally Seltmann floated onto the stage and proceeded to mesmerise all with beautiful harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and magical music.
Vocals tinged with a raspy, crackly, sweet syrup flitted around tinkling piano keys and the quiet plucking of guitar strings, before riding a drum and bass line to almost orchestral density, as a tambourine jangled across it all...and you held your breath listening to every little bit, hoping it would surround you with its delicate strength forever...thinking please don't let it end.
For Lismore last night it did end, but the tour continues and future audiences are in for a treat.
As the beginning of a new life for the Star Court Theatre as a performance venue...what a rebirth! Theatre manager Heather Rose, has some fantastic ideas and plans for this beautiful old venue and from what we have seen so far, I'm looking forward to the renaissance.
